Mahabodhi Karuna
Charitable Hospital
Ladakh is the
biggest district in India. Despite
the overwhelming need for health-care, there is only one government
hospital in Leh, over-crowded and lacking in modern diagnostic
machines and equipments. Heart
patients are referred either to Chandigarh or to Delhi and not
everyone can afford this.
To complement the
medical services and provide quality Medicare, the Mahabodhi Mother
Park Chung Soo Karuna Charitable Hospital was started in 1996 by the
kind support of Mother, a South Korean.
The hospital now has a mobile ambulance, to give health-care
in rural areas. Outfitted
with the latest medical equipment, the Karuna Hospital continues to
set the standards for Medicare in the region.
The Mahabodhi
Hospital organizes annual summer medical camps in remote villages,
attended by specialist doctors from here and abroad.
