Maitri Charity Program Maitri (in Sanskrit) or Metta (Pali) means unconditional and unattached loving-kindness, which is the basis of karuna, or compassion.  With the sublime heart of love, we express care and concern for all beings.  As the name suggests, the Maitri Charity Project is aimed at the practice of Maitri.  Over the years, this has taken various forms, ranging from providing emergency relief programs to basic necessities like clothes and blankets for poor villagers living in the mountains.
